What are single phase and three phase connections?
Most of us know that in the world of electricity, current flows
through wires, which also burns light and bulbs and runs our devices. The
current sent by the power grid is the alternating current (or AC). In a
single phase transmission, the current is transmitted by a single wire.
Whereas, in a three-phase connection arrangement, the three-wire alternating
current is adjusted in a fixed time between voltage waves. In India, a
single phase transmission is 230 volts by two wires and 415 volts by three phase
transmissions 4 wires. The basic difference between the two is that a
three-phase connection can carry a heavy load, while a single phase cannot bear
a heavy load.
